As many mourn the passing of local legend Jenni Rivera (collection of memories via LA Observed), on December 10, 1958, another local legend, Mexican American musician Ritchie Valens, recorded his famous live concert at Pacoima Jr. High. The entire album is available on YouTube. This concert took place less than two months before Valens died in a plane crash, on February 3, 1959.
